Job summary

Toronto Metropolitan University is seeking an Instructional Technology Specialist to transform the way teaching and learning are experienced. Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in Educational Technology, IT Management, New Media, Computer Science or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Digital Media Projects or TEL office/environment with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience with instructional design methodology and applications in a post-secondary institution.
  • Knowledge of evolving instructional technologies, principles of adult learning, theories of learning and instructional strategies, multimedia designs.
  • Knowledge of evolving internet standards and technologies such as HTML, HTML5, XML, and CSS.
  • Multimedia production skills, such as video, graphics, interactive content (e.g. Articulate Storyline and H5P).
  • Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.

  • Lead instructional technology projects from concept to implementation.
  • Advise on innovative uses of our tools and the implementation of new educational technologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty to understand learning goals and recommend accessible technology solutions.

The Opportunity

As the Instructional Technology Specialist, you'll help transform the way teaching and learning are experienced at Toronto Metropolitan University. In this role you will bring together education, technology, and creativity. You'll partner with faculty and staff to provide the technical guidance and training needed to successfully leverage educational technology across face-to-face, blended, and online environments. In this dynamic and collaborative role, you'll lead instructional technology projects from concept to implementation. Whether advising on innovative uses of our roster of tools, the implementation of new educational technologies, or keeping our systems and processes up-to-date, you'll play a key role in bringing teaching ideas to life. You'll manage multiple projects while collaborating closely with faculty, academic leaders, and colleagues to understand learning goals and recommend accessible technology solutions that enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes. Your ability to translate complex technologies into practical, user-friendly solutions will help educators confidently embrace new ways of teaching and connecting with students. As an advocate for continuous innovation, you'll stay at the forefront of emerging instructional technologies, digital learning trends, and best practices. You'll share your expertise, champion creative approaches to teaching, and help shape a culture of continuous improvement that empowers both instructors and learners to succeed. Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Educational Technology , IT Management, New Media, Computer Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience within a Digital Media Projects and/or Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) office/environment handling progressively increasing responsibilities is required for this position.
  • Experience with instructional design methodology and applications in a post-secondary institution, specifically the ability to make recommendations for the use of technologies in teaching and learning.
  • Knowledge of evolving instructional technologies, principles of adult learning, theories of learning and instructional strategies, multimedia designs,
