Job summary

BDO Canada is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Personal Debt Solutions team, overseeing consumer bankruptcy and proposals, debtor assessments, and asset recovery. You will supervise staff, coordinate with debtors, creditors, and courts, and drive practice development across Canadian offices.

Ideal candidates hold a Fully Licensed Insolvency Trustee status with a CIRP designation and multi-jurisdictional licensing. Some evening work and travel to satellite offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge of insolvency laws, rules, and procedures.
• Fully Licensed Insolvency Trustee with multi-jurisdictional license preferred.
• CIRP designation is required.
• Ability to prioritize, manage workload, and handle multiple tasks.
• Flexibility to work evenings and travel to satellite offices.

Responsibilities

• Manage consumer bankruptcy and proposal files.
• Provide advice on bankruptcy laws and practices; conduct debtor assessments; manage asset recovery (including acting as Receiver).
• Supervise staff and delegate tasks and projects as required.
• Maintain ongoing communications with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy, and the Courts.
• Identify, target, and develop referral sources.
• Assist with practice development and travel to other BDO offices as required.
• Assist with managing court files, including taxation of fees.
