Job description

Bird is seeking a Construction Innovation Implementation Coordinator to support the practical implementation of work packaging, planning, digital workflows, and construction innovation initiatives across its data centre portfolio.

This project-facing role will work directly with project managers, construction managers, superintendents, forepersons, Workface Planners, Project Controls, engineering, procurement, quality, safety, document control, and subcontractors. The initial focus will be implementing Advanced Work Packaging and Workface Planning on active projects, including scope identification, package development, readiness, release, execution support, and continuous improvement.

This is not a BIM or VDC production role. It is an operational implementation role at the intersection of construction execution, planning, digital workflows, and innovation.

Project sites located across Canada, with regular project-site presence required.

What You Will Be Working On
Work Packaging Implementation
  • Work with discipline leads and project teams to identify upcoming construction scopes and package priorities.
  • Support the development, validation, maintenance, and tracking of Construction Work Packages and Installation Work Packages.
  • Coordinate package scope, boundaries, sequence, ownership, contents, dates, and execution requirements.
  • Maintain package information in approved registers and platforms, including InEight where applicable.
  • Support the preparation, review, release, revision, distribution, and closeout of field-ready package outputs.
Readiness and Constraint Coordination
  • Coordinate package-readiness reviews with responsible project functions.
  • Track constraints related to design, documents, materials, predecessor work, access, permits, resources, equipment, safety, quality, and subcontract interfaces.
  • Ensure each constraint has a clear owner, required date, current status, and supporting evidence.
  • Follow up on actions and elevate unresolved items affecting planned field execution.
  • Support release decisions based on agreed readiness requirements and documented exceptions.
Project and Field Coordination
  • Work directly with project and field teams to keep package information current and usable.
  • Coordinate inputs from Operations, Project Controls, Planning, Engineering, Procurement, Document Control, Digital Construction, Quality, Safety, and subcontractors.
  • Align upcoming scopes and packages with short-term look-ahead planning and project schedule information.
  • Facilitate package working sessions, site validation, readiness discussions, and lessons-learned reviews.
  • Maintain clear action lists and follow up with responsible parties.
Digital Workflow Adoption
  • Support project users in adopting registers, forms, package views, dashboards, and approved technology platforms.
  • Test digital workflows against actual site conditions and recommend practical improvements.
  • Gather field requirements and translate them into clear needs for the Construction Innovation Systems Analyst.
  • Identify duplicate entry, unnecessary steps, missing information, unclear ownership, and adoption barriers.
  • Support training, quick-reference guides, onboarding, and day-to-day user assistance.
Continuous Improvement and Portfolio Expansion
  • Capture implementation lessons and improve the process while work is being executed.
  • Support the transition from traditional package methods to structured digital workflows.
  • Help standardize effective practices across Sherwood and other data centre projects.
  • Participate in pilots involving integration, automation, AI-enabled tools, 3D/4D visualization, and future digital-twin workflows.
  • Keep new solutions practical for project and field users.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required.
What We Are Looking For
  • Post‑secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Project Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting construction projects through project coordination, planning, project controls, operations, field coordination, or related roles.
  • Experience working on active construction sites or in fast-paced project environments is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, short-term planning, scope coordination, work packaging, and field execution.
  • Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with construction managers, superintendents, forepersons, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP), WorkFace Planning (WFP), Lean Construction, Last Planner, or constraint management is an asset.
  • Experience with construction technology platforms such as Excel, InEight, Primavera P6, Power BI, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SiteSense, or similar tools is an asset.
  • Interest in digital construction, AI-enabled workflows, systems integration, and process improvement.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify constraints, drive action, and support successful project execution.
