Infrastructure Contracts Specialist (On-site, Flexible Hours)

Job summary

Metrolinx is seeking a skilled contract management professional for on-site work in downtown Toronto. You will review, interpret, and manage contract requirements for large infrastructure projects within the Capital Projects Group, ensuring consistency and risk mitigation across documents and activities.

You will coordinate in traditional and progressive contracts, apply relevant legislation and contract law, and maintain contract records in Primavera Contract Manager and Oracle Unifier.

Qualifications

• Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, Business, Construction/Contract/Commercial Law or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
• Demonstrated years' experience in the contract management and administration of large contractual agreements involving large-scale infrastructure projects that includes direct exposure to, or specialized working knowledge of: Contracting principles, processes, methods, practices as well as basic accounting and scheduling; Administration of construction contracts and/or engineering/architectural design contract, and other technical and professional services contracts.
• Demonstrated experience in contract change management administration, coordination of early warning processes, and supporting claims defense.
• Ability to understand and work with complex commercial processes, in traditional and progressive contracts.
• Ability to interpret contract law, and Ontario legislation (e.g. The Construction Act, OPS Directives etc.), Canadian Construction Documents Committee documents, bespoke contract documents, and legal statutes and proceedings.
• Ability to plan, schedule and organize a variety of activities and deal with stressful situations with tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to communicate effectively with various personnel within and outside of the organization including management, professional staff, project team, construction site staff, other personnel to discuss, clarify and resolve technical/contractual matters, financial, legal, and other concerns.
• Experience using contract administration systems, such as Primavera Contract Manager and Oracle Unifier is an asset.
• This role requires construction on-site presence during working hours.
• A valid G license is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Review, interpret and analyze contract requirements, tenders, and contract documents, to ensure contracting strategy and clauses are applied to reduce risk.
• Ensure required clauses are included in all contract documentation and recommend changes where omissions occur.
• Identify and advise on resolution of critical contract issues including contractor performance and enforce obligations.
• Administer contract records in systems such as Primavera Contract Manager or Oracle Unifier.
• Monitor contract status and provide reports to management and project teams.
