Job description

ESBE Scientific is a 100% Canadian-owned and operated distributor of scientific, laboratory and medical equipment and supplies. We support customers across Canada through trusted supplier partnerships, technical expertise and exceptional service.

About the Role

We are looking for a practical, business-minded technology leader to help ESBE get greater value from its systems, data and external technology partners, as well as use technology and AI to create value internally and externally.

This role will work across the organization to improve business systems, reporting, security, vendor performance and the employee technology experience. The scope may evolve as ESBE’s needs and technology environment change.

This is an on-site role based in Markham, Ontario, with periodic remote flexibility when business needs allow.

What You Will Do
  • Help shape and deliver ESBE’s technology and business systems priorities.
  • Lead business improvement initiatives involving ERP, CRM, reporting, analytics and data quality.
  • Turn business needs into clear requirements, options and practical recommendations.
  • Partner with internal teams to improve processes, system adoption and decision-making.
  • Oversee external IT, software, telecom and cybersecurity partners, including service levels, priorities and costs.
  • Support information security, access controls, business continuity and technology risk management.
  • Ensure employees have reliable, secure tools for office, field and remote work.
  • Manage technology budgets, licensing, renewals, roadmaps and other priorities as the role develops.
What You Bring
  • Progressive experience in IT, business systems or technology leadership, ideally in distribution, wholesale, supply chain or a related environment.
  • Experience working with an ERP platform. Epicor Prophet 21 or a comparable distribution ERP is an asset.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to connect technology decisions to customer service, revenue, margin, efficiency and risk.
  • Experience working with outsourced technology providers and software vendors.
  • Interest and experience with AI, and testing and applying AI across tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, reporting and analytics, information security and access controls.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A practical, curious and accountable approach, with the flexibility to adapt as priorities evolve.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT or business systems, including at least three years with accountability for an ERP platform in a distribution, wholesale or supply-chain environment.
  • Post-secondary education in business, information systems, engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.

The expected total compensation range is $75,000 to $115,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and performance. The role is eligible for an annual performance bonus. ESBE offers group benefits, a retirement savings program and professional development support, subject to plan terms and eligibility.

ESBE may use artificial intelligence-enabled tools to support the screening, assessment or selection of applicants. Responsibilities may be adjusted to reflect the evolving needs of the business.
