Job summary

Timmins and District Hospital is hiring for clerical and receptionist duties within the Information Services portfolio. You will register patients, update demographics, and enter data into Meditech and other systems.

You will interact with patients, visitors and staff, using strong communication, accuracy, and confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry, and bilingual English/French are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary graduates from an Office Administration, Medical Administration, Business Administration or other related graduate program is mandatory.
  • Previous work experience in clerical office environment and knowledge of medical terminology would be an asset.
  • Typing 40 wpm, filing rapidly and accurately.
  • Strong abilities to work with computer data entry systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative with minimal supervision within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
  • Clerical perception to check entries and file material in proper sequence.
  • Understand instructions and exercise good judgment when meeting patients, visitors, and professionals.
  • Regular attendance history.
  • Physical ability to sit/stand, bend, reach, lift and crouch.
  • Flexible with shifts.
  • Current registration, switchboard, chart assembly and scanning experience would be an asset.
  • Provide effective services to clients/patients in both English and French.
  • COVID-19 vaccination per Ontario guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Update patient demographic information and register patient visit data into the Meditech System.
  • Enter/update information into ERNI, CRITICAL and other web-based programs as needed.
  • Interact and take directions with/from Patients, Visitors and other staff as required.
  • Communicate effectively with people at all levels, in person and on the telephone.
  • Observe details in written material and document data and filing reports with clerical perception.
  • Maintain tact, diplomacy, reliability, and a pleasant personality in carrying out responsibilities.
  • Handle highly sensitive information confidentially.
  • Maintain good working relationships with staff, providers and hospital team per Respectful Workplace Policy.
  • Perform other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

Job description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Usingyour skilled clerical perception, you will be required to accuratelyobserve pertinent details contained within written material and whendocumenting received data and/or filing reports.
  • Youmust be alert, possess a good memory, present a pleasant personality andemploy tact and diplomacy in always carrying out the positionresponsibilities.
  • Youwill be required to handle highly sensitive information confidentially.
  • Mustmaintain good working relationships with departmental staff, health careproviders and all other hospital staff as per the Respectful WorkplacePolicy established at TADH.
  • Toperform other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

  • Employment history which demonstratesregular attendance at work.
  • Must have the physical ability to workwhile sitting or standing most of the working day and be able to bend, reach,lift and crouch while using departmental files.
  • Must be flexible with shifts.
  • Current registration, switchboard,chart assembly and scanning experience would be an asset.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Starting salary of $27.85. /hour; $54,307.50/year(As per Step 1 of the STW collective agreement.) range to $29.60/hour; $57,720.00(As per Step 4 of the STW collective agreement.)
  • Option to enroll in Healthcare of OntarioPension Plan.
