Job summary

The City of North Bay is seeking a certified Industrial Millwright for the Water Wastewater Facilities – Infrastructure & Operations team. The role requires maintenance and repairs of water/wastewater equipment, adherence to safety policies, and timely reporting.

Applicants must have Millwright certification, Ontario driver’s license, and MOE OIT/Water Level I as specified. On-call rotation and emergency responses are part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Must hold Ontario Industrial Millwright certification and have 3+ years of mechanical/electrical repair experience.
• Knowledge of OH&S Act and related regulations; ability to complete reports.
• Clerical ability to prepare and maintain necessary reports.
• Experience with process control and data entry; record keeping skills.
• On-call availability for emergency work.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on water/wastewater facilities and equipment.
• Safely manage materials, parts and equipment following City Safety Policies and OHSA regulations.
• Complete required maintenance and repair reports and documentation.

Education

Industrial Millwright certification (Ontario)

MOE OIT and Water/Wastewater Level I certification

Ontario Class G driver's license

Under the direction of the Water Wastewater Facilities Supervisor, performs mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance to Water and Wastewater facilities and equipment. Responsible for the efficient use and control of materials, parts and equipment while adhering to City Safety Policies and Procedures as well as the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. Completes necessary reports.

Qualifications:

• Certification as Industrial Millwright in Ontario
• Must have in-depth knowledge & experience in mechanical & electrical equipment repair and installation with minimum three (3) years experience in mechanical and electrical repairs operations
• Demonstrated ability to identify and correct unsafe conditions related to work activities
• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations applying to the work activity
• Sufficient clerical ability to complete necessary reports
• Knowledge of operating standards, practices & procedures for water/wastewater treatment plants an asset
• Ability to provide and apply practical problem-solving skills
• Must hold or obtain MOE OIT within 3 months and is required to achieve Water and Wastewater Treatment and Distribution Level I certification
• Computer skills/knowledge for process control and data entry; record keeping skills
• Ability to perform manual labour
• On-call availability
• Must possess a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license.
