Job summary

Red Deer Polytechnic is seeking a Trades Shop Technician – Mechanical / Industrial to provide self-directed technical support for day-to-day operations in the School of Trades and Technology.

The role requires troubleshooting, repairing tools, assisting instructors and students, procuring materials, installing and calibrating equipment, and maintaining safety and WHMIS standards across the Shop facilities, with a 35-hour work week and a permanent position.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related health field or social work.
• Two years post-secondary training or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Sound decision making and problem solving abilities.
• Familiarity with trades programs and related components.

Responsibilities

• Designs and delivers a range of projects meeting specifications.
• Procures materials and tools as required in consultation with the manager.
• Maintains inventory and coordinates repairs and shipping of materials.
