Job Description

Position: Technician

Location: Fort McMurray, AB, T9H 0G3

In this role you will:

  1. Comply with all safety policies and guidelines, including those established by the customer. Report unsafe practices.
  2. Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead cranes and hoists at customer sites. Be available for on-call and after-hours service.
  3. Conduct troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic issues to determine causes and perform necessary repairs. Document safety checks and deficiencies.
  4. Provide safety notifications and recommendations to customers, and discuss repair options and safety improvements.
  5. Complete electronic documentation accurately and timely, including customer signatures.
  6. Understand and apply relevant safety codes and regulations, updating knowledge regularly.
  7. Maintain professional and accurate documentation and communicate with the service office and coordinators.
  8. Maintain company equipment, tools, and vehicles in safe working order. Notify supervisors of any issues.
  9. Manage supplies and materials in the service vehicle, documenting usage.
  10. Follow all safety rules and participate in safety meetings.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recognized trade qualification as a Journeyman Electrician, Millwright, or equivalent, or an Associate’s degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience, depending on provincial requirements and CSA standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and walkways.
  • Strong computer, communication, and customer interaction skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
