Job summary

Hilton Foods Canada is seeking a Licensed Industrial Electrician to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronics systems in its highly automated Brantford production facility. The role supports production reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across all electrical and control systems.

You will read electrical drawings, install motors, sensors, servo drives and VFDs, diagnose PLC/HMI issues, and perform preventive maintenance using the CMMS.

Qualifications

• Secondary school completion required.
• Valid Ontario 442A or 309A license.
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program.
• 3–5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrician experience preferred.
• Food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics and code specifications to install and operationalize industrial equipment.
• Install, maintain, test, and repair electric motors, sensors, servo drive, variable frequency drive and automated equipment used in food processing.
• Troubleshoot HMIs, PLC ladder logic, electrical and electronic control systems, including PLC‑based automation used on production lines.
• Siemens/Allen Bradly PLC experience is highly desirable.
• Perform root‑cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Inspect production equipment for wear, malfunction risks, and compliance with food‑safety electrical standards.
• Ensure all work complies with the Canadian Electrical Code and internal food‑safety standards. (ISO, HACCP)
• Complete preventative maintenance and corrective work orders, maintenance logs, and documentation accurately in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Maintain and update the site ESA logbook.
• Ensure electrical systems meet food‑plant sanitation and safety requirements.
• Follow lockout/tagout, arc‑flash, and plant safety procedures.

Working Type: On-Site

Key Experience, Knowledge And Skills
Completion of secondary school required.
Valid Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction & Maintenance (309A) license in province of Ontario.
Completion of an approved apprenticeship program.
Strong knowledge of industrial automation, PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Familiarity with food‑manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, packaging systems, chillers, mixers, grinders, slicers, batching systems, etc.
3–5 years of industrial or manufacturing electrician experience preferred.
Food manufacturing experience considered a strong asset.
Ability to stand for long periods, bend, twist, and perform repetitive motions.
Comfortable working in hot, cold, high paced and/or noisy environments.
Ability to lift materials (up to 50 lbs), work at heights, and operate tools safely.
