Job description

Canadian Tire's AJ Billes Distribution Centre in Brampton, Ontario is looking for a skilled Industrial Electrician to join their maintenance team. This role is responsible for achieving department and customer operation goals, ensuring ongoing equipment reliability and uptime through preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, troubleshooting, analysis and equipment upgrades. This role covers a night shift schedule (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; working in a safe and effective manner
• Perform service and preventative maintenance on all equipment within the DC
• Respond to all equipment breakdowns in a timely manner based on priority systems
• Maintain accurate parts and work order records on computerized maintenance system (MAXIMO)
• Perform repairs with minimal supervision and take responsibility to complete jobs within time demands
• Troubleshoot electrical systems through the use of electrical schematics, personal computers, panel layouts or manufacturer's specifications
• Provide information on equipment/system problems to coordinator and provide updates as required
• Provide required shift change hand-off information to shift coordinator and incoming trades
• Make recommendations to improve equipment operation/efficiency and reduce maintenance costs
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair DC Controllers and AC drives and photo electric systems
• Assist industrial mechanics or powered lift truck technicians when required
• Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet

Requirements

• Current Ontario Certificate of Qualification — Industrial Electrician #442A or #309A Construction Electrician with relevant industrial experience (copy must be attached to application)
• Experience effectively troubleshooting equipment electrical/controls problems and investigating root cause
• Experience in troubleshooting Rockwell programmable controller (PLC) systems (Control Logic & SLC)
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment as well as various testing procedures
• Experience in working with computerized maintenance management software (CMMS)
• Ability to stand for long periods with occasional laying down, stooping and crouching, plus frequent heavy lifting

Assets

• Experience working on conveyors, sortation equipment, towlines, cranes & AGVs
• Detailed programming of PLCs and PLC systems
• Siemens Simatic PLC troubleshooting experience
• Experience with Maximo

Compensation & Benefits

Hiring range: $36 to $46.50/hr plus $2 shift premium.
