Job summary

Linde is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to install, troubleshoot, and calibrate plant instrumentation and electrical systems at our facilities in Canada. The role covers transformers, switchgear, transmitters, PLCs, and related equipment, with responsibilities spanning planning, material procurement, and contractor coordination.

You will read P&IDs, perform lock-out/tag-out, and ensure QA via functional tests.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates in Applied Sciences Degree or equivalent apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in an industrial environment strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of chemical plants, especially industrial gas plant processes.
• Experience with installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment.
• Knowledge of Hazardous Work Permits and Management of Change processes.
• Excellent communication, team interaction, and presentation skills.
• Self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to build productive relationships across departments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• On-call availability for 24/7 operation including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Installation, troubleshooting, inspection, calibration, and repairs of plant instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot industrial instruments and analyzers including transmitters, PLCs, meters, and automatic valves.
• Maintain electrical systems below 600 volts including motors, backups, UPS, breakers, and transformers.
• Racking of switchgear breakers and control systems.
• Read and maintain P&IDs and schematic wiring diagrams per SOPs, QA, and MoC policies.
• Perform lock-out tag-out procedures and issue permits for electrical work.
• Facilitate contractor management for safe and efficient electrical maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with functional testing requirements related to QA, including isolation tests.
• Maintain critical spare parts inventory for instrumentation and electrical systems.
• Plan, schedule, estimate costs, procure materials, and coordinate instrumentation and electrical activities during outages.
• Understand process loop interactions and their impact on operations.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Allen Bradley PLCs and diagnostics.
• Prepare and execute small projects to improve facility availability and reliability.
• Support root cause analysis for routine and major failures of electrical systems.
• Utilize CMMS to plan and execute maintenance activities, including procurement and documentation.
• Support plant operations by making control changes as needed.
• Work outdoors in variable weather, at elevated heights, or in confined spaces.
