Job summary

Airex Energy is seeking an experienced Industrial Drafter to create and modify 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings for their industrial equipment and systems. The role collaborates with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to translate concepts into precise, fabrication-ready drawings.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical drafting, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA), and the ability to work under pressure while handling multiple projects in French

Qualifications

• D.E.P./D.E.C. required or equivalent training.
• 5+ years of relevant drafting experience in industrial environments preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Produce 3D models and general/ fabrication drawings.
• Create installation plans and assembly drawings from engineering specs.

The industrial drafter is responsible for producing, modifying, and maintaining the technical drawings required for the design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of equipment and systems developed by the company.
The individual works closely with engineers, project managers, the automation team, and suppliers to translate concepts and technical specifications into clear, precise manufacturing drawings that meet project requirements.

Drafting and Technical Design

• Produce 3D models based on concepts, sketches, calculations, and engineering specifications.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, fabrication drawings, installation plans, and assembly drawings using CAD software.
• Develop mechanical details such as structures, components, assemblies, supports, piping, and industrial equipment.
• Modify and update existing drawings.
• Incorporate required tolerances, dimensions, materials, finishes, and other technical specifications.
• Ensure drawings are suitable for actual fabrication and installation conditions.

Collaboration with Engineering and Project Teams

• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to translate technical requirements into detailed drawings.
• Participate in mechanical development and design, and implement necessary modifications.
• Identify potential design, assembly, or manufacturing issues and propose solutions.
• Participate in site surveys and measurements as required.

Quality Control and Documentation

• Verify drawing accuracy prior to release.
• Adhere to technical drafting standards, internal guidelines, and project-specific requirements.
• Manage drawings and control versioning.
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and project files.
• Incorporate feedback from design reviews, manufacturing, and installation.

Desired Profile :

• D.E.P. (Vocational Diploma) in industrial or architectural drafting, or D.E.C. (Technical Diploma) in mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent training;
• Over 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering drafting;
• Experience in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment—an asset;
• Experience with mechanical equipment, structures, or industrial systems—an asset;
• Proficiency in standard drafting software: AutoCAD and Inventor (parametric 3D software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro/E, or CATIA);
• Comfort working with both metric and imperial measurements;
• Strong mathematical skills (ratios, calculations);
• Ability to visualize and model in 3D;
• Ability to work under pressure;
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
• Analytical mindset, rigor, and attention to detail;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and good command of English (due to interactions with international partners).
