Job summary

Airex Energy in Laval, QC seeks a seasoned Project Controller to monitor costs, schedules and performance indicators for industrial projects. You will work with project managers and cross-functional teams to provide real-time visibility and ensure adherence to budgets and forecasts.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in administration, finance or engineering and 5–10 years in project controls, with strong Excel, Power BI and ERP experience; French and English communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop, track, and update project budgets and forecasts.

• Produce periodic reports and dashboards for management.

The project controller plays a key role in project monitoring and performance by ensuring rigorous management of costs, schedules, and performance indicators. Working closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams, this individual contributes to strategic decision-making by providing clear, real-time visibility into project progress.

Cost Tracking and Financial Control

• Develop, track, and update project budgets
• Identify and analyze variances between actual costs and forecasts
• Monitor financial commitments, expenditures, and invoicing
• Manage financial forecasting and monthly closing processes
• Implement and maintain cost tracking and control tools

Project Management Support

• Support project managers in planning, organizing, and controlling activities
• Collaborate on the development and updating of project schedules
• Participate in risk analysis and the implementation of mitigation plans
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders on change management (scope, costs, schedules)
• Develop and track project performance indicators (KPIs)
• Produce periodic reports (dashboards) for management
• Ensure project compliance with internal processes and best practices

Desired Profile:

• Bachelor’s degree in administration, finance, engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in project controls or project financial management
• Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or engineering project environment (significant asset)
• Solid understanding of project management concepts (costs, schedules, risks)
• Excellent analytical skills and a high level of rigor
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and data management tools
• Experience with tools such as MS Project, Power BI, and ERP systems (asset)
• Knowledge of project management methodologies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain financial concepts clearly
• Autonomy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English (due to interactions with international partners)
