Job summary

Airex Energy is seeking an Industrial Automation and Control Engineer to design, integrate, and optimize electrical and automation systems for residual biomass valorization projects at our Laval office.

You will ensure safety and reliability from design through commissioning, define automation strategies, develop panels, select components, document progress, and support budget and scheduling estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation.
• 8–10 years of experience in a comparable role.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens controllers.
• Experience with Burner Management Systems (BMS).
• Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Grafcet, FB, ST).
• Fluency in French (spoken and written); functional English for international clients.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally for commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements for automation projects.
• Define automation architecture and strategy.
• Participate in development from design to commissioning.
• Design electrical panels in accordance with Canadian Electrical Code standards.
• Prepare technical documentation and progress reports.
• Select electrical and instrumentation components based on engineering requirements.
• Analyze and optimize automated systems.
• Perform detailed engineering for assigned projects.
• Collaborate on engineering procedures and cost estimation.
• Track and update drawings and technical documents.
• Design and develop industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, ControlNet, DeviceNet).
• Contribute to project budgets and schedules.
