Job summary

Strike Group is seeking a field Sandblaster/Coater to blast and coat piping and structural steel at a camp project near Prince George, BC. The role requires hands-on blasting, painting, and coating tasks while upholding safety standards and coordinating with onsite client representatives.

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years of related experience, possibly NACE certification, and a valid Class 5 license. Travel is required with a camp pay structure including daily camp allowances.

Qualifications

  • Safety focused when it comes to people and equipment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Experience with troubleshooting issues in the field.
  • Ability to work well in both independent and team environments and manage multiple tasks while working under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Blasting/painting/coating material to the required specifications.
  • Troubleshooting issues with field sandblast unit, compressor, blastpot, hose etc.
  • Select appropriate coating and mix as per manufacturers specifications.
  • Testing the atmosphere and paint/coating thicknesses and filling out the required documentation.
  • Holiday testing when required and filling out the proper documentation.
  • Completing jobs in a timely manner meeting set deadlines.
  • Driving to and from various sites in a company vehicle.
  • Coordinate with onsite client representatives.
  • Working safely and maintaining a clean working environment.
  • Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance.

PROJECT DETAILS
  • Project Name: Mount Bracey Compressor Station
  • Nearest City: Prince George, B.C (Camp Project)
  • Shift: 14 Days on/7 Days off
  • Travel pay: $400/shift
  • Camp retention: $25/day
Core Accountabilities
  • Blasting/painting/coating material to the required specifications
  • Troubleshooting issues with field sandblast unit, compressor, blastpot, hose etc.

Safety Tickets Required
  • CSTS 2020 or Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Bear or Wildlife Awareness course
  • Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (St. John Ambulance or Canadian Red Cross) or WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1) Training Certificate
  • WHIMIS 2015 (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods – TDG (Strike can provide when onboarding)
  • Fall Protection Training
  • Arial Work Platform Training
Qualifications
Experience
  • 2+ years of directly related work experience operating various types of equipment
  • NACE Level 1 or 2 is preferred
  • Knowledgeable in conventional and airless spray applications area
Education
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license is required
