Job summary

Region of Waterloo is seeking an Employment and Income Support worker to handle Ontario Works inquiries, determine eligibility, and authorize financial and discretionary benefits. You will develop participation and employment plans with referrals to help clients improve their quality of life.

  • University degree or college diploma in a related field and relevant experience.
  • Experience with Indigenous communities and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Knowledge of OW, ODSP, and social assistance policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains OW caseload with Indigenous prioritization and supports eligibility determination.
  • Develops partnerships with internal/external partners to support service delivery and referrals.
  • Determines financial eligibility and authorizes benefits per legislation and guidelines.
  • Uses quality of life framework to help clients build employment/participation plans and access resources.
