Job summary

Region of Waterloo, a regional government organization, seeks a policy-driven worker to handle Ontario Works inquiries, determine financial eligibility, and help clients develop participation and employment plans with referrals. The role emphasizes culturally responsive service and collaboration with Indigenous communities.

You will support ODSP processes, adjudicate discretionary benefits, and guide clients toward stable employment and improved quality of life, in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in a related field.
  • Experience with Indigenous communities and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Knowledge of OW, ODSP, and related legislation and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a caseload of OW clients with priority for Indigenous clients.
  • Determines financial eligibility and informs clients of requirements.
  • Develops participation and employment plans with referrals and supports.
  • Coordinates with ODSP and other service providers and vendors.
