Job summary

Ontario Native Women's Association seeks a Development Coordinator to strengthen Indigenous anti-human trafficking responses across Ontario. You will design training and resources, engage with communities and partners, and support trauma-informed service planning.

Reporting to the Community Development Manager, you will help build capacity, coordinate partnerships, and deliver educational materials and programs that reflect Indigenous knowledge and survivor voices.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary diploma or bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Women's Studies, Community Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in community service delivery, program coordination, capacity building, or project coordination roles.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, anti-trafficking context, and survivor-centered approaches.

Responsibilities

• Support capacity building, resource development, and system collaboration across Ontario.
• Develop training, resources, and awareness initiatives for Indigenous survivors of human trafficking.
• Collaborate with liaisons, Indigenous communities, service providers, and partner organizations.
• Promote collaboration, service planning, and organizational capacity building.

SCOPE

The Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Development Coordinator supports capacity building, resource development, and system collaboration to strengthen Indigenous community responses to human trafficking across Ontario. Working closely with Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Liaisons, Indigenous Mental Health and Addictions Anti-Human Trafficking Liaisons, Indigenous communities, service providers, and partner organizations, the Coordinator develops training, resources, and awareness initiatives that support culturally informed, trauma-informed services for Indigenous survivors of human trafficking. Reporting to the Community Development Manager, the Coordinator promotes collaboration, service planning, community engagement, and organizational capacity building while supporting ONWA's vision, mandate, and strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS:

• Post-secondary diploma or bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Women's Studies, Community Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in community service delivery, program coordination, capacity building, or project coordination roles.
• Strong facilitation, presentation, curriculum development, and training delivery skills.
• Experience developing educational resources, workshops, awareness materials, and community-based tools.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating partnerships, networks, and collaborative initiatives.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience preparing reports, correspondence, briefing materials, and presentations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, internet applications, databases, and virtual meeting platforms.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to speak an Indigenous language is considered an asset.
• Preference may be given to applicants with experiential knowledge in the area of human trafficking and/or sexual exploitation, including survivors of human trafficking and/or sexual exploitation with significant recovery experience.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, teachings, ceremonies, and communities.
• Knowledge of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, violence against women, and issues impacting Indigenous women and girls.
• Knowledge of culturally informed, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered approaches.
• Understanding of Indigenous community development, capacity building, and service planning.
• Knowledge of provincial community resources, Indigenous organizations, and service delivery systems.
• Understanding of anti-racism, anti-oppression, gender-based analysis, and equity-informed approaches.
• Knowledge of not-for-profit organizations and community-based service delivery.
• Understanding of issues impacting remote, rural, northern, and fly-in Indigenous communities.
