Job summary

The Okanagan Indian Band is seeking a Social Development Worker to deliver the Income Support Program and support residents in accessing services and opportunities. You will promote independence by connecting people with education, training and employment pathways within a supportive community framework.

Working with the Employment and Social Development Lead, you will develop case plans, monitor progress, and liaise with agencies while maintaining confidential client records and promoting

Qualifications

• BSDW certificate or working towards.
• Income Assistance program training an asset.
• First Aid/CPR certificate or willing to obtain.
• Valid BC Driver’s licence, Class 5.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Administers and delivers the Income Support Program to ensure the program is delivered in an effective and appropriate manner.
• Provide information and assistance on the Income Support Program to ensure that residents are familiar with the program and the criteria for support.
• Refer clients to other agencies as appropriate.
• Participate in planning of community events concerning education and career development.
• Distribute career, educational and employment information.
• Develop and implement case plans including reviews and evaluations.
• Facilitate and participate in case conferencing.
• Ensure program budget is followed.
