Job summary

Building Ontario Fund seeks an Indigenous Opportunities Financing Program (IOFP) Intern for a 12-month internship starting September 2026. The role offers hands-on exposure within a public agency environment and advancement of Indigenous economic reconciliation and inclusive infrastructure investments.

The position requires in-office work five days a week at 79 Wellington Street W, Toronto, and offers a competitive CA$55,000 salary.

Qualifications

  • Current student or recent graduate with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business or related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to interpret data and summarize key findings.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with investments and
  • Familiarity with investments and project financing.
  • Interest in or progress toward CFA, CAIA, or a similar designation is considered an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and peoples, and/or lived experience as a member of an Indigenous community, is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support research on applicants and projects seeking Provincial guarantees
  • Assist in evaluating financial and operational performance of applicants for the Provincial loan guarantee
  • Support in documenting existing and developing new internal business processes in relation to the due-diligence and obtaining the approvals for the Provincial loan guarantees
  • Help in preparing board, committee and other briefing materials, including slide decks and analytical reports
  • Track and analyze due-diligence and closing costs, and guarantee fees
  • Develop and maintain tools, models, and presentations used in due-diligence and existing guarantees monitoring and reporting
  • Participate in internal meetings and cross-functional collaboration to support ongoing initiatives

Job description

Building Ontario Fund (BOF) is seeking an Indigenous Opportunities Financing Program (IOFP) Intern for a 12 month internship starting in September 2026. (This job posting represents an existing vacancy.)

This internship is part of BOF’s broader initiative to develop Ontario’s future talent pipeline by offering meaningful, hands-on work experience within a dynamic public agency environment.

BOF encourages applications from First Nations, Inuit, and Métis candidates, particularly those with an interest in advancing Indigenous economic reconciliation and inclusive infrastructure investments.

IOFP Intern will gain exposure to a range of functions and will:
  • Support research on applicants and projects seeking Provincial guarantees
  • Assist in evaluating financial and operational performance of applicants for the Provincial loan guarantee

Education and Experience

Current students or recent graduates with a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business or related discipline.

Our office at 79 Wellington Street W, Toronto is steps from Union Station, with great dining and transit options.

As part of the Ontario Public Service, BOF requires employees to work in-office five (5) days/week. We believe in-person presence and collaboration strengthens culture and service delivery.
