Job summary

Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC) is seeking a Database Administrator to ensure the OFIFC Integrated Database (IDB) is secure, efficient, and aligned with policy and regulations.

You will manage IDB users and roles, monitor performance, and collaborate with program and finance teams to meet IDB needs while developing training plans for staff.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field or equivalent proven experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in database management systems and user application support, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Team Player, Planning and Organising, Organisational Understanding, Accuracy and Attention to Detail.
  • Superior understanding of database systems.
  • Skilled in database report writing, queries, and exports.
  • Expert level proficiency with SPSS or other relevant statistical software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics and Excel.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify database requirements by analysing OFIFC business requirements and user needs.

Description

Objective:

To ensure that all aspects of the OFIFC's database system are effective, efficient and adhere to OFIFC policy and all applicable laws and regulations. Furthermore, the position will ensure that data is available to users and secure from unauthorized access.

  • To perform data analysis, support the day-to-day database operational activities and ensures processes are aligned with OFIFC's long-range strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities
Data Base Administration (55%)
  • Assumes responsibility for development, implementation and functionality of the OFIFC Integrated Database system.
  • Identifies OFIFC database requirements by analysing and documenting OFIFC business requirements and user needs.
  • Monitors and evaluates system performance to ensure that data is stored optimally and securely.
  • Provides recommendations for ongoing IDB systems improvement.
  • Manages OFIFC and Friendship Centre IDB users and roles; and
  • Establishes IDB administration procedures and controls.
Communication, Liaison and Support (40%):
  • Supports internal front end IDB users by providing information and resolving problems.
  • Liaises with all OFIFC workgroups to ensure that the IDB needs of programs, policy, research, training, and financial administration are met.
  • Produces briefings and status reports on the IDB to senior management and other staff of the OFIFC as required.
  • Monitors and reports on new IDB development project.
  • Acts as liaison between IDB development contractors and OFIFC; and
  • Develops IDB training plans, tools, and resources for OFIFC and Friendship Centre staff.
Other (5%):
  • Maintains and upgrades professional skills.
  • Promotes a healthy, safe work environment; and
  • Performs other duties, related to the position, as assigned by the Executive Director or designate.
Education/Work Experience

  • Hiring Range: $70,000 - $73,850
  • Full Pay Range: $70,000 - $82,000
  • Comprehensive Health benefits after the probationary period including Health Care Spending Account & Lifestyle Spending Account (100% Employer paid)
