Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant for a 50% term position (17.5 hours/week). The role supports students with exceptional needs within the school under the Principal's direction, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of related experience with school aged disabled students.
• Valid First Aid certification/CPR Level C is an asset.
• Completed Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training.

Responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and students with developmental disabilities.
• Participation in pool programs and academic support; implement special programs.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students; assist with physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
• Modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities and speech/language issues.
• Assignments may include yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool duties; knowledge of Ontario Curriculum and assistive software is assets.
