Job summary

Friends of Ruby in Toronto (Hybrid – 70 Richmond St E) is seeking a Finance Officer to manage the full AP/AR cycle, reconcile books, and support financial reporting for a not-for-profit serving 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.

The role emphasizes integrity, accountability, and collaboration; you will work with QuickBooks, Dext, ApprovalMax, Plooto, and MS 365, ensuring audit-ready files and CRA compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Finance, Accounting, or related field; a degree is an asset.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience with full transaction cycle.
• Experience with reconciliations, payment processing, expense tracking, and reporting.
• Not-for-profit experience and CRA charitable compliance knowledge is a bonus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and QuickBooks or similar software; workflow tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounts payable and receivable cycle, including invoicing, coding, approvals, and payments.
• Prepare bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations; month-end/year-end papers.
• Design and maintain expense tracking tools and financial schedules; monitor card activity.
• Prepare budget-to-actual and funder reports; identify trends and risks.
• Maintain audit-ready financial records and CRA documentation; support audits.
• Act as system administrator for QuickBooks, Dext, ApprovalMax, Plooto, and MS 365; train staff.
