Job summary

Elby Professional Recruitment is assisting a not-for-profit client in Ontario to hire a Financial Lead. The role combines hands-on accounting with team leadership and will report to the Director of Finance.

You will oversee financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and partner with leaders on budgeting and strategic planning. The ideal candidate thrives in a mission-driven setting, coaching finance staff and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in financial leadership and hands-on accounting.
• Experience coaching and guiding junior finance staff.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and compliance.
• Experience with Power BI and Dynamics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Finance department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Lead and support the Financial Analyst and Accounting Specialist, providing coaching and guidance.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting reports.
• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with leaders across the organization to support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic planning.
• Monitor and improve accounting processes and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support audit activities and liaise with external auditors and other stakeholders as required.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
• Utilize financial systems and reporting tools, including Microsoft Dynamics-based applications and Power BI.
