Job summary

ICLEI Canada is seeking an Accountant to manage full-cycle accounting for our growing non-profit. You will handle AP/AR, payroll, banking, reconciliations, budgeting, and year-end readiness while collaborating with a climate-focused team in a hybrid Toronto setting.

Qualifications

• Must live in Canada and be legally eligible to work.
• Advanced oral and written English; French considered an asset.
• A university degree in accounting or related field is a plus; equivalent experience considered.
• 5–7 years of full cycle accounting and reporting experience in non-profit sector preferred.
• Strong accounting knowledge; project accounting is a plus.
• Payroll processing experience preferred but not required.
• Proficient with QuickBooks Premier Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, links, etc.).
• Familiarity with Dropbox is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and collaborative, team player attitude.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate AP invoices, post to QuickBooks, and pay vendors on a bi-weekly schedule.
• Reconcile receipts for corporate cards and expense reports; post to AP in QuickBooks.
• Prepare AR invoices for memberships and project billings using an Excel template.
• Process bi-weekly payroll; review year-end payroll data and T4s for accuracy.
• Monitor AR collections and follow up on past-due balances.
• Assist with cash flow management and banking activities.
• Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly HST and quarterly QST filings and remittances.
• Support year-end close, audits, and respond to auditor queries.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasts, and monthly financial reporting.
