Immigration Law Clerk - (Mississauga)

Job description

Our client is a busy mid-size law firm, and they are looking to hire a Law Clerk with a minimum of 2-3 years of Canadian immigration experience working on temporary residence matters, including both LMIA-based work permit applications and a wide range of LMIA-exempt work permit applications, and permanent residence matters, including Express Entry-based PR applications, PNP applications and Family Sponsorship applications, in a fast-paced environment.

Your new role

In this new role you will be responsible for implementing various immigration strategies to deliver on clients’ needs and mitigate immigration risks. You will research specific visa office/application type requirements and prepare an initial list of documents and information required for review by a lawyer. You will prepare application forms, drafts and documents for work permit applications, study permit applications, temporary resident visas, permanent residence and citizenship matters independently at the instruction of a lawyer. Management of multiple files from beginning to end including the provision of regular updates to clients. You will also be required to stay abreast of changes in immigration law, regulation, and policy and prepare applications for filing via government portals in a timely manner.

What you will need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 2-3 years of Canadian immigration experience working on temporary residence matters, including both LMIA-based work permit applications and a wide range of LMIA-exempt work permit applications, and permanent residence matters, including Express Entry-based PR applications, PNP applications and Family Sponsorship applications, in a fast-paced environment. You will bring with you a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace. To succeed you should also have excellent English verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to relate to people at all levels.
