Job summary

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a seasoned professional to lead the IMIT Registration and Switchboard Services. You will shape information management strategies, oversee data integrity, and drive patient data initiatives across the Nova Scotia Health system.

The role requires leadership across a large health network, governance expertise, and the ability to travel to multiple sites to support teams and implement transformation projects.

Qualifications

• Current CHIMA registration required.
• Experience in large/complex organization.
• Knowledge of privacy laws including FOIPOP, PIPEDA, and hospital acts.
• PM/Change management certification an asset.
• Travel to locations across the province as required.

• Maintain provincial oversight while leading information management teams.

About the Opportunity

The IMIT Provincial Manager, Registration and Switchboard Services reports to the IMIT Director Registration, Scheduling and Switchboard and is responsible for the transformation of health information to achieve provincial standardization across NS Health. The Provincial Manager is responsible to establish strategic and program-level leadership of Information Management including registration and data integrity, patient booking and scheduling, patient locating, hospital switchboard, and integration of technological solutions. The Manager has responsibility for implementation of information management practices required to develop, evaluate, and monitor programs and services while contributing to the overall IMIT strategy implementation to achieve the goals and objectives of Nova Scotia Health.

The IMIT Provincial Manager, Registration and Switchboard Services will perform duties such as but not limited to:

• Lead the development of operational plans to meet goals and objectives and financial targets of the portfolio.
• Maintaining provincial oversight while leading teams for information management and systems transformation
• Assist clinical programs with information management requests for the purposes of patient data collection, audits and quality review for health outcomes across NS Health.
• Ensure information management best practice in accordance with provincial/federal legislation in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and Personal Health Information Management Act.
• Lead staff located across the province. Travelling as required to multiple locations to support and strengthen the team.
• Apply information management governance to policy, process, systems and tools for internal and external stakeholders, programs, divisions, care teams, service teams and staff enabling the provision of the most comprehensive accurate data for decision making and reporting across health information applications.
• Monitor and manage quality assurance of information by auditing, investigating, and reporting ensuring compliance standards and targets of NS Health.
• Address clinical inquiries related to information management standards, reporting and legislation.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Current registration with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CHIMA) and the Nova Scotia Health Information Management Association is required.
• Knowledge and skills in the areas of HIS tools, applications, and systems of support.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ progressive leadership experience with health information management in an organization of significant size and/or complexity;Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and seven (7) years progressive leadership.
• Undergraduate degree. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and work experience, Bachelor’s degree related to health information management, or Diploma related to Health Information with 5-7 years of health information management experience.
• Experience implementing health information management strategies, policies and processes for a large, complex organization
• Knowledge of health care legislation including privacy legislation - Freedom of information & Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (FOIPOP, PIPEDA), Hospitals Act, Mental Health Act, Medical Staff By-Laws, Medical staff rules and regulations
• Experience in leading teams of staff with indirect accountabilities
• Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation an asset.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or organizational change management certification an asset.

Hourly Rate: $53.59 - $65.65
Annual Salary: $104,500 - $128,017
