Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Unit Clerk for the Rockyview General Hospital ICU/CCU in Calgary. You will manage the communication flow among healthcare staff, patients and families, maintain records, transcribe orders and schedule tests, while supporting the unit's administrative needs.

The role requires Grade 12, a Unit Clerk course, and at least 1 year of acute care experience; ICU practicum within the last 6 months is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
• At least 1-year acute care experience.
• Will consider a successful final practicum in an ICU setting within the last 6 months.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and able to prioritize many competing needs

Responsibilities

• Coordinate efficient flow of communication among health professionals, departments, patients and families.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records.
• Transcribe and process physician orders; schedule tests and treatments.
• Perform a range of administrative tasks in support of the unit.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and professional development.
