Job summary

Toronto Hydro Corporation is seeking a Senior Manager, Construction (Stations) in Toronto, ON. You will lead planning and execution across capital, maintenance, and customer connection programs while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will drive workforce optimization, manage budgets, and develop frontline leaders. The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and strategic improvement across stations operations.

Qualifications

  • Three-year college diploma or higher (education considered with experience).
  • Ten+ years in construction, maintenance and stations commissioning in a utility environment.
  • Five+ years of progressive supervisory/leadership experience.
  • MEARIE Journeyperson Sub-Station Electrician Certificate or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Experience managing large-scale construction or maintenance work programs.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Knowledge of utility construction/maintenance practices and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and practices.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario electricity sector and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and execution practices.
  • Knowledge of process improvement and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Financial management including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and frontline development skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Strong change management and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making in complex environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, prioritization, and execution of capital, maintenance, reactive, and customer connection programs.
  • Deliver work safely, on schedule, within budget, and to defined quality standards.
  • Optimize workforce, contractor, and equipment resources across multiple teams and locations.
  • Drive standardization, process improvement, and adoption of new technologies.
  • Manage departmental budgets, performance metrics, and operational scorecards.
  • Enhance field productivity and implement strategic spare parts management for Stations assets.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct field audits and incident investigations with corrective actions to mitigate risk.
  • Champion a strong safety culture using HOP principles.
  • Support safety programs and committees; lead, coach, and develop front-line leaders.
  • Manage performance, attendance, and development per policies and collective agreements.
  • Build leadership capability for consistent execution of projects.
  • Advance workforce development through apprenticeships, training, and skills programs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify risks and meet objectives.
  • Build relationships with external partners and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in industry forums; promote leading practices.
  • Incorporate stakeholder insights into planning and continuous improvement.
  • Support divisional initiatives for construction execution, sustainability, and asset performance.
  • Align departmental plans with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
