Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Payroll Analyst to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with policies and legislation, and seamless collaboration with HR and site leadership. This role supports complex payroll functions, reconciliations, and continuous improvement within a hybrid work environment at our Markham head office.

You will handle high-volume payroll processing with strong Excel skills, PCP designation preferred, and experience with Workday and ServiceNow is a plus.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience performing full-cycle payroll processing.
• Solid understanding of payroll tax regulations and multi-provincial payroll requirements.
• Experience with large, complex payroll environments is an asset.
• Familiarity with Workday is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, balance, and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Audit payroll changes and updates to maintain data integrity and compliance.
• Process earnings, deductions, and statutory withholdings in accordance with company policies, collective agreements, and payroll legislation.
• Calculate complex earnings components including retroactive pay, holiday pay, vacation pay and accruals, employee reimbursements, benefits, pensions, union dues, and paid leaves.
• Perform regular vacation accrual reconciliations and validate vacation balances in accordance with collective agreement language, company policy, and employment standards legislation.
• Investigate payroll discrepancies, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Complete payroll system testing and maintain supporting documentation.
• Reconcile and process third-party remittances and payments.
• Provide payroll guidance and responsive support to employees, HR Business Partners, and site leaders.
• Contribute to special projects, process improvements, and continuous enhancement initiatives.
