Job summary

Alacrity Canada is seeking a maternity-leave coverage HR professional to serve as the operational backbone, partnering with the COO. You will manage BambooHR, benefits administration, recruitment, onboarding, and employment documentation, making sound judgments on routine HR matters and escalating complex issues as needed.

This part-time role (20 hours/week) in a hybrid environment based in Victoria or Vancouver, BC, requires strong communication, organizational skills, and a proactive, reliable

Qualifications

• Experience in HR operations and administration.
• Strong understanding of leave rules and employment standards.
• Ability to draft employment documents and amendments.
• Knowledge of payroll basics and BC Employment Standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain BambooHR: records, documents, reporting, configuration.
• Manage PTO tracking and approvals.
• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding.
• Handle BC Employment Standards issues; escalate as needed.
• Recruitment end-to-end: post openings, screen, interview, offers, references.
• Draft employment contracts and amendments; notify for legal review.
• Partner with Finance on payroll compliance and deductions.
• Benefits administration and renewal logistics.
• Maintain employee handbook and recognition programs.
• Process grant documentation and reporting; take on ad-hoc projects.
