Job description

Unleash your potential with the Johnson Controls team!

What you will do

Johnson Controls Inc. is seeking forward-thinking talent to support our rapidly growing HVAC business in North America.

During these unprecedented times, JCI is committed to the health and safety of all employees, customers, partners, and communities.

At Johnson Controls, you'll work on light commercial and/or heavy commercial teams with advanced heavy commercial and industrial equipment. Our talented team fosters an environment that is open, collaborative, results-oriented, hardworking, and fun.

How will you do it

We are looking for skilled HVAC Mechanics with practical experience in HVAC piping, plumbing, pipefitting, or mechanical equipment service. Mechanics should have hands-on experience with light commercial or commercial mechanical equipment. Passing an examination may be required to verify specific skills. The scope includes commercial HVACR service, partnering with Journeymen on centrifugal, steam turbines, and open-drive screw chillers. Responsibilities include maintenance, repair, and replacement of commercial heating and cooling systems.

We offer factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA), with recognition, monetary rewards, and career advancement. Our programs include incentives and a strong focus on employee safety. We provide tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle to support your work and service excellence.

Your role involves delivering high-quality service to resolve facility inefficiencies and issues. As a trusted advisor, you'll provide solutions during commissioning and aftermarket service, including recommendations and upselling opportunities. You will also prepare quotes to support your recommendations.

What we look for

Required

  • Willingness to learn and responsibility for system troubleshooting, repairs, and aftermarket services.
  • Good standing membership with LOCAL 787.
  • At least a G2 Gas Fitter license; G1 preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of troubleshooting experience in commercial and/or industrial HVAC, including rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, and compressors.
  • Mechanical shaft alignment skills using dial indicators for pumps, fans, and compressors.
  • Travel availability of 10% to 20% for support activities.
  • Interest in career development through training programs in HVAC products and sales quoting.
  • Ability to work with other mechanics, servicemen, and apprentices.
  • Strong interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills to effectively document and communicate problems, causes, and solutions.
  • Ability to provide quotes and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for learning and applying new skills.
  • Prioritize safety at all times.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English is an asset.
  • Ability to obtain government security clearance.
