Job summary

Plan Group, Inc. is seeking an HVAC Service Technician in Ottawa, Ontario. This full-time unionized role requires UA local 787 membership and a 313A Refrigeration Journeyman designation, or enrollment in the 313A Apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will install, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems in commercial buildings, while prioritising safety and customer service. The position involves routine preventative maintenance, on-call availability, and commuting through the GTA.

Qualifications

• Membership in UA local 787 or in good standing with the Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association.
• 313A Refrigeration Journeyman designation or current enrollment in 313A Apprenticeship.
• G1 Gas license is an asset.
• WHMIS and Fall Arrest are assets.
• Experience researching, troubleshooting, repairing and installing HVAC systems in commercial buildings.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install HVAC equipment and systems.
• Identify, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical HVAC issues.
• Plan and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment and systems.
• Complete repairs in a timely manner.
• Prioritize safety and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Support the Service Manager to provide clients with efficient solutions.
• Foster strong vendor and client relationships to maintain Plan Group’s reputation.
• Be available for regular hours and on-call work.
• Have a clean drivers abstract and commute through the GTA.

Job description

This is a full-time unionized position. Applicants must be a member in good standing with UA local 787 and hold a valid 313A Refrigeration Journeyman Designation or currently enrolled in 313A Apprenticeship.

As our HVAC Service Technician you:

• Perform installations of HVAC equipment and systems
• Identify, troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues and/or failures to HVAC equipment
• Plan and perform routinely scheduled preventative maintenance to HVAC equipment and systems - identifying any issues and recommending resolutions
• Complete repairs in a timely manner
• Always makes safety a priority and work in compliance with the provisions of the Act and all regulations
• Support the Service Manager to provide clients with the most efficient solutions
• Facilitate strong relationships with vendors and clients, ensuring Plan Groups strong reputation is maintained
• Available for regular working hours as well as on-call work
• Have a clean drivers abstract and are comfortable commuting through the GTA

Our ideal candidate has:

• Membership in good standing with the Ontario Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association, the UA local 787
• 313A Refrigeration Journeyman Designation or currently enrolled in 313A Apprenticeship.
• G1 Gas license an asset
• WHMIS and Fall Arrest an asset
• Experience in troubleshooting, repairing and installing HVAC systems in small, medium and large commercial buildings
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail a must
• Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed expectations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
