Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Toronto, ON is seeking an Assistant Transmission Engineer to support project teams across the design and construction lifecycle for high voltage transmission lines (69-500 kV). You will assist with concept-to-design work, drafting, and client-facing tasks under a licensed PE supervisor.

The role emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail, and the application of civil/structural engineering principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in civil engineering or related accredited program.
• FE exam or equivalent considered.
• Experience in civil/structural design and drafting requested.

Responsibilities

• Assist in transmission line design from concept to design completion.
• Review and modify production drawings for 69-500 kV lines.
• Prepare plan/profile drawings, load diagrams, and foundations.
• Support field inspections and data collection.
• Contribute to client presentations and contract administration.
• Update CAD drawings and verify corrections across software.
• Assist with studies, reports, and data compilation.
