Purpose:

This position supports business location managers, supervisors, and employees in HR areas, including employee relations, health and safety, workplace accommodation, and performance improvement.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Provide recommendations to address HR matters to preserve employee-employer relationships, reduce risk, and boost employee retention and morale.
  2. Stay informed about HR trends, employment law changes, and the labour market environment.
  3. Support managers with employee development and performance activities, including development plans, appraisals, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions.
  4. Assist the Talent Acquisition Specialist with recruitment processes as needed.
  5. Support health and safety programs, including compliance, training, and ergonomics.
  6. Resolve employee issues and foster a healthy work environment.
  7. Conduct workplace investigations related to harassment, violence, injury, and illness.
  8. Assist with employee accommodation, including individualized plans and return-to-work programs.
  9. Manage claims of workplace injury or illness, supporting return-to-work activities and liaising with provincial bodies like WSIB.
  10. Support employee leave programs, including disability, maternity, and personal leaves.
  11. Participate in new initiatives and special projects.
  12. Maintain and update employee records.
  13. Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Post-secondary education in Human Resources.
  2. 2-3 years of HR experience.
  3. Bilingual in English and French.
  4. Ability to travel within the province.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  6. Thorough knowledge of provincial employment legislation.
  7. Knowledge of HRIS systems.
  8. CHRP certification or in progress preferred.
