Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, and dotted line to VP & GM, Shawflex, the Human Resources Manager is a key member of the Shawflex leadership team. This role provides leadership and partnership across all HR aspects for the business unit. Responsibilities include developing and executing people strategies, implementing HR programs aligned with business objectives, and proactively communicating with the HR team and business leaders. The role requires up to 10% travel within North America.

Key Duties:
Recruitment and Talent Management:
  • Create and implement recruitment strategies to meet labor needs and business objectives.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and support hiring managers.
  • Partner with senior leaders to develop talent strategies, including designing competency models, leadership development, diversity strategies, and training plans, ensuring ROI.
Tools and Reporting:
  • Maintain data accuracy in HRIS (SuccessFactors) and payroll systems.
  • Prepare monthly headcount reports for leadership meetings.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives and conduct pulse surveys with action plans.
Policies, Procedures, and Projects:
  • Improve existing or develop new HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure policy and legal compliance.
  • Oversee employee handbook for US and Canada locations.
  • Serve as an HR subject matter expert and coach leaders on people issues.
  • Define employee engagement goals and strategies.
Performance Management:
  • Support performance review processes.
  • Monitor and report on review completion.
  • Assist in resolving employee relations issues.
Compensation:
  • Lead compensation analysis and advise on pay practices.
  • Manage compensation cycles and ongoing issues.
Career Development and Planning:
  • Partner with leadership on capability assessments and succession planning.
  • Identify training and development opportunities.
Compliance:
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements to minimize risks and ensure compliance.
Other Duties:
  • Handle employee relations, investigations, employee moves, unemployment claims, training, exit interviews, workers' compensation, visa and immigration matters, and other strategic HR duties.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent.
  • 6-10 years HR experience, with at least 3 years in leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Labor Laws and manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with HRIS systems; CHRP or CHRL preferred.
  • Experience with unions is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Professional, discreet, proactive, and adaptable to change.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and team skills.
