Job Description: Human Resources Manager

Our client is opening a new Distribution Center in Ajax, ON, and is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to assist with the opening. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Compliance, Labour Relations, and recruiting, preferably with experience in 3PL, warehouse, or distribution environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations related to human resources.
2. Recruit, interview, test, and select employees for vacant positions.
3. Conduct new employee orientations to promote positive attitudes towards company goals.
4. Maintain records of benefits participation, personnel transactions, and employee statistics for reporting.
5. Train management on interviewing, hiring, termination, promotion, performance reviews, safety, and sexual harassment policies.
6. Advise management on employee relations issues.
7. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
8. Administer performance review and salary administration programs to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity.
9. Manage benefits programs, including insurance, pension plans, leave, and employee assistance.
10. Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance purposes.
11. Conduct wage surveys to determine competitive wages.
12. Handle employee separations, exit interviews, and related documentation.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized four-year college or university.
2. Experience in 3PL, distribution, or warehousing sectors.
3. 8-10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training.
4. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
5. Strong report writing, business correspondence, and manual development skills.
6. Effective presentation skills for groups of managers, clients, and the public.
