Overview

Venor is proud to partner with our client Nova Truck Centres, in their search for a Human Resources Manager, based out of their location in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the President, the HR Manager develops and executes the HR strategy that supports the business objectives by developing high performing people, teams and leaders. Providing strategic and technical leadership, they develop, implement, monitor, and continually improve people programs to ensure the organization has the right people in the right places to achieve and exceed business objectives.

The HR Manager is focused on process improvement to find efficiencies and ways to bring improvements across the business. They positively influence both the employee experience and the organizational culture, focusing on maintaining a welcoming and inclusive workplace for all.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will partner closely with the leadership team and business unit leaders to deliver people programs and strategies that support organizational goals. You will coach and guide leaders in employee development, performance and talent management, engagement and retention, culture and belonging, and total rewards and recognition. You will review, improve, and develop HR policies and processes to attract, retain, and develop key talent, ensuring clear and equitable guidelines are in place. You will lead the full talent acquisition process, including job design, sourcing, selection, onboarding, and orientation, while also creating and implementing succession plans to place the right talent in critical roles and support the organization’s long-term objectives.

You will champion a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture, overseeing health, safety, and wellness programs, managing WCB claims and disability case programs, and promoting effective return-to-work strategies. You will address employee relations matters, provide conflict resolution, and conduct workplace investigations as needed. In partnership with leaders, you will facilitate performance development processes, support employee growth, and implement equitable rewards and compensation strategies. By building strong internal and external relationships, fostering inclusion, and mitigating organizational risk through expert guidance on HR and employment matters, you will play a key role in shaping a high-performing, engaged, and diverse workforce while continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

What We’re Looking For

As the ideal candidate, you are a dedicated HR professional with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of experience in Human Resources, preferably within a related industry, and combines business savvy with strong interpersonal skills. A CPHR designation, or working towards one, is considered an asset. The successful candidate operates with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, is a proactive and collaborative team player, and is skilled at managing multiple priorities effectively while demonstrating initiative and autonomy.
