Multimatic Manufacturing is seeking a proactive and results-driven HR Generalist to support our dynamic and fast-paced automotive manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for delivering core human resources functions including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, training coordination, policy implementation, and supporting plant-level organizational initiatives. The HR Generalist will work closely with operations and leadership teams to ensure a consistent, fair, and compliant approach to all HR matters while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
The HR Generalist is a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting all aspects of HR operations within a high-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for delivering consistent HR support to both hourly and salaried staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation, and actively contributing to a positive workplace culture. The HR Generalist will serve as a point of contact for employees and leadership on a wide range of HR matters including employee relations, recruitment, performance, attendance, and health & safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a first point of contact for employee relations, providing guidance on workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation
- Support full-cycle hourly recruitment including job postings, interviews, selection, reference checks, and onboarding
- Administer and track employee attendance, leaves of absence (WSIB, STD, LTD, ESA), and accommodations
- Assist in the performance management process, including probationary reviews, corrective actions, and performance improvement plans
- Support the coordination and delivery of employee training and development programs
- Work with supervisors and managers to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures
- Participate in health and safety initiatives, joint health & safety committee support, and injury reporting
- Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Assist with the planning and execution of employee engagement and recognition events
- Contribute to internal audits, compliance reviews, and HR metrics tracking
- Support HR Manager and leadership with special projects, organizational changes, and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 2–4 years of HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (automotive preferred)
- Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA), and related legislation
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion
- Strong time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, etc.)
