Position Purpose
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for supporting all facets of humanresources at Kitsaki Vegetation Services (KVS). This includes onboarding, benefitsadministration, policy implementation, employee relations, and assisting leaders with daily HRactivities. The role is essential in supporting both permanent and seasonal employees, ensuringtimely, compliant, and culturally respectful HR processes.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding
  • Support job postings, reference checks, and candidate tracking.
  • Prepare offer letters and ensure timely communication with payroll.
  • Coordinate onboarding logistics (travel, IT requirements, identification information, directdeposit/pay information, tax forms, benefit enrolment, orientation, training identification).
  • Track eligibility and process corporate tools (e.g., corporate credit cards).
  • Complete offboarding tasks, including documentation, interviews, and equipment return.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
  • Collect and submit accurate payroll and employee data to Finance (timesheets, statuschanges, new hire information, etc).
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and eligibility questions.
  • Respond to inquiries on pay, deductions, ROEs, T4S, and pay stubs.
  • Ensure payroll and benefit systems reflect changes (e.g., salary/status updates).
  • Ensure employee departures are appropriately documented and subsequent activitiesfor offboarding are completed.
  • Maintain benefit and EI-related government documentation as needed.
Employee Support & Relations
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for staff questions about scheduling, job status, leave,and benefits.
  • Provide information and referrals for addictions and mental health supports.
  • Respond to HR-related questions from field-based employees (especially during seasonal operations).
Policy & Compliance Support
  • Communicate policy changes and ensure staff awareness.
  • Track compliance with policies such as safety, attendance, and substance use.
  • Maintain and update the HR policy manual and ensure accessibility of resources.
Manager Support & Advisory
  • Assist with hiring logistics, template provision, and scheduling interviews.
  • Support the coordination of performance reviews and document completion.
  • Act as liaison between managers and employees on sensitive HR issues (as directed).
Recordkeeping & HR Administration
  • Maintain secure employee files and HR records (digital and paper).
  • Track temporary vs permanent staff, field crew lists, role changes and employmentstatus changes.
  • Archive, purge, and update records per legislation and audit readiness.
  • Maintain up-to-date, catalogued HR reference materials.
Job Requirements
  • Experience in human resources and payroll considerations for status employees workingon-reserve.
  • Experience handling confidential business matters and information
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle issues simultaneouslyand meet scheduled timelines.
  • Strong administrative skills, including record-keeping, note-taking, correspondence,proof-reading, document updating, and file management.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive working relationships.
  • Detail-oriented and able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of human resources systems and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic records systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, attention to detail, discretion for sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience working with Indigenous organizations is a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.
