Human Resources Generalist - Destination Auto Group

Recognized as the 2019 and 2022 Canadian Automotive Dealers Association (CADA) Laureate Award Winner for Business Innovation and one of Canada’s Best Employers for Recent Graduates for 2022, Destination Auto Group is looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team! This is an excellent opportunity for a highly adaptable person looking for a multifaceted and fast-paced environment within a growing automotive company.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist will play a pivotal role in supporting our HR functions and initiatives. This role requires a well-rounded HR professional with extensive experience in various HR disciplines, including employee relations and engagement, recruitment, performance management, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of British Columbia employment laws and a proven track record of contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Employee Relations - Act as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns. Facilitate conflict resolution and provide guidance on workplace issues. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Talent Management – In collaboration with the Human Resources Coordinator, support the full cycle recruitment process.
  • Employee Engagement – Provide support with the new hire onboarding process, facilitate New Hire Orientations, assist with annual engagement survey process.
  • Performance Management - Support managers in conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback. Develop and implement performance improvement plans as needed. Promote a culture of continuous feedback and professional development.
  • Assist with group health benefits administration and short and long-term disability management.
  • Health and Safety Policy Compliance, including WorkSafe BC injury reporting and return to work management. Support of the HSE program across all dealerships.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of various company HR policies and programs.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Human Resources Manager in support of the overall departmental goals and objectives.

Key Qualifications :

  • Minimum 3+ years of progressive HR generalist experience dealing with numerous facets of HR.
  • Self-motivated individual with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Outstanding time-management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under short deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of confidentiality and diplomacy.
  • Proficient in utilizing MS Office suite, Google Drive, and experience with applicant tracking systems. Experience with Canada Life Group Administration, Payworks, and Breezy HR ATS is a plus.
  • MUST be relationship-focused, with an approachable style and ability to establish rapport with employees and key partners at all levels.
