Job description

As the HR Generalist, you will be the face of HR, supporting our busy and fast-paced business. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, you will support, facilitate, and lead a wide range of people programs, working at both strategic and operational levels to drive seamless execution of processes and systems to maximize operational effectiveness.

This standalone position is considered a Cultural Leadership Role and will help design, implement, and manage the corporate culture of Kit and Ace, as well as support some Office Services tasks.

Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities:

  1. Provide human resources consultation and guidance on key issues such as workforce planning, talent management, performance management, succession planning, employee retention and engagement, conflict resolution, employee relations, benefits and compensation management, and compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  2. Support all management levels on performance and employee relations issues, offering coaching and guidance to ensure effective performance review processes and the development of key talent.
  3. Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new hires, managing employee documentation throughout their employment lifecycle.
  4. Maintain employee files, manage HRIS data entry, and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
  5. Reconcile HRIS and staffing data for financial forecasting.
  6. Manage Kit and Ace’s group benefits program.
  7. Assist employees with HR policies, benefits, and process flows for employment changes.
  8. Act as the super user for WFN, providing support and troubleshooting.
  9. Prepare and analyze HR reports and metrics, and create presentations as needed.
  10. Provide administrative support for HR communications and initiatives.
  11. Support recruitment activities, including interview scheduling, phone screens, and reference checks.
  12. Assist with job description formatting and posting on various platforms.
  13. Support other company-wide People initiatives as needed.

Office Services Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain office and kitchen supplies.
  2. Conduct routine office tidiness walk-throughs.
  3. Coordinate and set up lunches and meetings.
  4. Ensure washrooms and kitchens are stocked.
  5. Update birthday and work anniversary calendars.
  6. Serve as the main contact for office security and emergencies.
  7. Assist with onboarding new employees, including office tours and fob distribution.
  8. Liaise with the Health and Safety Committee on related issues.
  9. Coordinate with custodial, maintenance, and security services.

Qualifications include a minimum of 4-5 years of HR Business Partner or Generalist experience within Canada, preferably in retail, with in-depth knowledge of Canadian employment law and benefits, CPHR certification or a relevant degree, and proficiency with HRIS systems like ADP WorkForce Now. The candidate should demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining professionalism in a fast-paced environment.
