Role Description
The Human Resources Business Partner is a trusted advisor who is the first point of contact for HR-related matters within their assigned region. They partner with managers to deliver the Kal Tire team member & customer experience through proactive, impactful, and practical HR advice. Reporting to the Manager, HR, the Human Resources Business Partner acts as a change agent, working closely with the business and HR Shared Services Team to deliver scalable solutions aligned with the HR strategy and plan.
Core Responsibilities
- Supports and assesses the short and long-term business needs of the portfolio and provides generalist HR advice to the leadership team that aligns with operational requirements.
- Provides guidance on a wide range of HR areas including team member relations, labour relations, conflict resolution, performance management, development, compensation, investigations, change management, team effectiveness, mobility, promotions, sick leave, return-to-work, layoffs, terminations, and HR policies and programs.
- Works closely with talent acquisition and management to support recruitment, staffing plans, reassignments, and team member availability.
- Leads team member engagement initiatives to improve culture and retention.
- Partners with business leaders and HR team members to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Helps develop and establish HR policies, processes, and practices to support the business.
- Manages sensitive issues such as harassment, workplace respect, disciplinary investigations, and employee terminations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
- Analyzes HR trends and metrics to develop solutions and programs.
- Collaborates on disability management, including graduated return-to-work programs and accommodations.
- Communicates, facilitates, and presents HR programs and initiatives to managers and team members.
- Works with the HR Shared Services team on new initiatives and program implementation.
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of human resources generalist or advisor experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skilled in coaching, counseling, and advising on HR matters.
- Knowledge of provincial labour laws, employment law, and human rights legislation.
- Experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple demands.
- Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information.
- Knowledge of current HR best practices and salary trends.
- Experience in improving performance development processes.
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into actionable insights.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma/certificate with HR experience in a HRBP or advisory role.
- CPHR designation is an asset.
Special Requirements
- Occasional travel up to 20%.
