Job summary

Drake International is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead our Ontario HR operations from Cornwall. You will partner with Quebec HR, drive recruitment, performance management, payroll and benefits, and promote a high-performing, inclusive culture.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in HR or IR, 10+ years in HR with 5+ in management within manufacturing, and a provincial HR designation. fluency in English is essential; French is an asset.

  • Minimum of 10 years HR experience, with 5 years in a management role in manufacturing.
  • Provincial designation in Human Resources required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage performance reviews, employee records, and training programs.
  • Administer payroll, benefits, and salary review processes.

Why This Role

The Human Resources Manager leads the HR function for the Ontario operations and works closely with the HR team in Quebec to ensure consistency, alignment, and the sharing of best practices across the organization. Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager plays a key role in supporting organizational goals and contributing to the achievement of the Company’s strategic objectives. As a trusted advisor to employees and managers, the Human Resources Manager provides leadership and guidance across all areas of human resources. Through strong communication, sound judgment, and the highest standards of professional and ethical integrity, this individual fosters a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture while supporting employee engagement and organizational success. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic HR leader to influence key business decisions, drive people initiatives, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the organization

What you will do
Employment and Recruitment
  • Partner with managers throughout the recruitment, interviewing, and selection process to identify and secure top talent;
  • Ensure all hiring practices and employment activities comply with applicable provincial and federal legislation, as well as Company policies;
  • Develop, maintain, and periodically review job descriptions in collaboration with departmental leaders to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational requirements.
Performance Management
  • Lead and support the performance management process, providing guidance and recommendations to managers to foster employee success and organizational effectiveness;
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee and performance records;
  • Oversee the onboarding, integration and training of new employees, monitor probationary periods, and coordinate performance reviews as required;
  • Promote career growth, succession planning, and a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Compensation and Benefits Administration
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely with the ability to perform the payroll function as needed;
  • Ensure that the annual salary review process support fair, equitable, and competitive compensation practices;
  • Oversee job evaluation programs to maintain internal equity and support sound compensation decisions;
  • Administer and maintain the company benefits plan to support employee well-being;
  • Provide all necessary support to employees on group benefits matters.
Employee Relations
  • Promote effective and harmonious employer-employee relations;
  • Act as a pro-active facilitator by providing fair and confidential guidance to employees and managers on employment- related matters, recommending practical solutions as required;
  • Answer human resources enquiries.
What You’ll Bring
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field;
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of Human Resources experience, including 5 years in a management role within a manufacturing environment. Must have obtained provincial designation in Human Resources;
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge in employment legislation, payroll administration, manufacturing standards and Lean Manufacturing Principles;
  • Languages: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. French is considered an asset due to regular collaboration with the Quebec teams.
