Job summary

Britespan Building Systems Inc is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for a 24-month contract based in Wingham, Ontario. This in-person role covers full HR spectrum, from recruitment through to employee relations and policy development.

You will partner with leaders, support onboarding, performance management and compliance across jurisdictions, while maintaining confidential records and contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 2+ years of HR experience in a Generalist/Coordinator/Administrator role.
  • Experience with recruitment and talent acquisition.
  • Experience supporting employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and/or Smartsheet is an asset.
  • CHRP designation or working toward CHRP is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, from job postings and interviews through to offers and employment contracts.
  • Partner with leaders on hiring, onboarding and talent acquisition strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted first point of contact for employees and leaders on HR-related questions and concerns.
  • Support employee relations, performance management, attendance, accommodations and workplace issues.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and programs.
  • Support compliance with employment legislation across the jurisdictions in which Britespan operates.
  • Manage employee records and confidential HR information.
  • Coordinate onboarding and help ensure new employees have a positive start.
  • Support training and development initiatives, including mandatory compliance training.
  • Manage WSIB claims, incident reporting and return-to-work processes.
  • Support workplace accommodations and leave-of-absence processes.
  • Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Maintain HR systems, attendance records and HR-related reporting.
  • Develop and track HR metrics and KPIs.
  • Contribute to process improvements and HR projects that make our workplace more efficient and employee-focused.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

You’re someone who is organized, approachable, practical and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment. You know how to balance employee needs with business requirements and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done.

Ideally, you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
  • 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a Generalist, Coordinator or Administrator role
  • Experience with recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Experience supporting employee relations and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • A high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with HRIS systems and/or Smartsheet is an asset
  • CHRP designation or working toward CHRP is an asset
