Job summary

Bird Construction is seeking a Student HSE Coordinator for a 4‑month co‑op starting January 2027 in Mississauga or Borden, ON. You will support the Bird Safety Program, assist in developing site-specific safe work practices, and participate in safety inspections and incident investigations.

The role requires enrollment in an HSE diploma program, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and the ability to collaborate with project teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Health, Safety, and Environment diploma or equivalent
• Will complete at least one more semester and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment and build positive relationships
• Residency or valid work permit to work for Bird Construction or subsidiaries
• Transcript required with application

Responsibilities

• Support site supervision with implementation and management of the Bird Safety Program
• Collaborate with Project Management to develop site-specific safe work practices and hazard assessments
• Participate in regular health and safety inspections and document findings
• Follow up on corrective actions and lead incident investigations as needed
• Maintain safety statistics and monitor frequencies of incidents and violations
• Ensure contractors comply with the Bird HSE program and regulatory acts
• Lead or participate in safety meetings and liaise with authorities
• Provide site orientation and first aid assessment/treatment as needed
