Job description

An established and welcoming organisation just outside Pickering are looking for an experienced HR Specialist to join their HR team.

This role offers the chance to take a hands-on approach to supporting managers and employees across a range of HR and recruitment activities.

You’ll be working closely with the HR Manager and hiring managers to oversee recruitment, deliver inductions, manage employee relations, and ensure compliance with company policies and employment legislation.

There’s a strong focus on supporting staff wellbeing through absence management and occupational health, as well as maintaining site security standards from an HR perspective.

Some of the HR Specialist duties will be:

  • Collaborating with hiring managers to shortlist candidates and participate in interviews
  • Conducting inductions for new starters
  • Assisting with employee relations including training, development, and disciplinary processes
  • Reviewing occupational health outcomes to recommend necessary adjustments or actions
  • Managing staff absence records and related processes
  • Writing and updating company HR policies and procedures
  • Supporting the HR Manager with security compliance and auditing to avoid breaches
  • Managing contract changes such as pay and hours adjustments
  • Overseeing recruitment activities and supporting managers with company procedures
  • Maintaining records and producing reports and analysis
  • Providing expert HR advice and guidance to employees and managers
What we’re looking for:

  • Proven HR experience is essential
  • Level 3 CIPD qualification or equivalent (candidates with extensive HR experience but no formal qualification will also be considered)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of HR employment law
You’ll enjoy a great work-life balance working 37 hours Monday to Thursday and a nice early finish at 1pm on Fridays.
