Job summary

BeachHead Inc. seeks a Governance & Controls Consultant/HR to support governance, risk, and controls during a major Workday transition for a leading financial client in Canada.

The six-month contract focuses on strengthening the control environment across People, Culture & Talent while sustaining ongoing business activities. You will assess risks, document processes, test controls, support audits, and collaborate with HR leaders and stakeholders to embed a sustainable governance framework for

Qualifications

• Five+ years of governance, risk, and controls experience, preferably in Human Resources.
• Experience managing operational controls and regulatory compliance controls.
• Two+ years in HR processes and process documentation (payroll or recruitment cycles).
• Three+ years in banking or large, complex organizations.
• Strong knowledge of governance, risk, and control frameworks and risk concepts.
• Hands-on control assessments, testing, risk evaluation, and remediation recommendations.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to work hands-on with business partners.
• Experience supporting compliance, audits, or governance across cross-functional or regional teams.

Responsibilities

• Apply governance, risk, and control principles to support an effective and sustainable control environment.
• Assess business risks, evaluate existing controls, and identify opportunities for new or enhanced controls.
• Advise stakeholders on creation, maintenance, and enhancement of controls in line with policies.
• Support control assessments for the Workday transition and ongoing business activities.
• Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of controls through testing and documentation review.
• Identify control gaps and recommend practical improvements to strengthen risk mitigation.
• Support controls lifecycle including design, implementation, monitoring, enhancement, decommissioning.
• Develop and maintain clear process and control documentation.
• Gather artifacts from stakeholders and document testing results.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support audits, testing activities, and ongoing control management.
• Provide guidance on effective process implementation and determine if additional controls are required.
• Explain and support control changes to business partners.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment during a major organizational transition.
