Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President – CRB and the HR Director- CWCI, the HRBP provides strategic HR guidance to our leadership team and business units in Alberta and British Columbia. The role involves partnering with leaders to develop strategic people solutions aligned with business and HR objectives.

An experienced HR professional with a proven track record of providing trusted advice, building relationships, and demonstrating integrity and tact. Exceptional communication skills, resilience, agility, and a focus on the employee experience are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

  • Support strategic planning with senior management and operations.
  • Develop and implement HR goals aligned with company and CWCI strategies.
  • Assess workforce needs through succession planning, turnover analysis, and demographic studies.

Workforce Planning

  • Collaborate with division leaders on strategic and annual plans.
  • Translate business needs into short, medium, and long-term workforce plans.
  • Develop job profiles and recruitment strategies proactively.

Talent Acquisition

  • Align recruitment needs with workforce plans.
  • Lead recruitment and selection processes.
  • Establish relationships with educational institutions for future talent sourcing.
  • Manage recruitment budgets.

Onboarding

  • Design onboarding programs for new and diverse talent.
  • Organize regional orientations for seasonal workers.

Employee Development

  • Coordinate performance management, talent development, and training initiatives.
  • Identify high potentials and development needs through performance reviews.
  • Coach managers and develop individual development plans.
  • Oversee training planning and execution.

Retention and Engagement

  • Coordinate engagement surveys and develop action plans.
  • Implement retention and engagement programs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with labor relations and collective bargaining.
  • Support a safe and productive work environment, including policy interpretation and investigations.
  • Support change management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations, monitor HR data integrity, and present HR metrics to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Business Administration or HR; CPHR preferred.
  • 7+ years HR experience, with at least 5 years in a generalist role.
  • Experience in unionized environments and labor relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Strong influencing, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and ability to travel as needed.
